At the same time, the rest of the wedding is enlightened with state-of-the-art catering and décor services. Grand Sapphire and Spice Village collaborated on a theme wedding to fulfill their client’s wish. The theme of the wedding was unique and different. It was a joint effort from both parties to make the clients’ day the finest one.

Lavender Garden – The Theme of a Dream Wedding:

The theme wedding concept is what differentiates your day from others. A unique and exhilarating idea is what creates the difference. Our esteemed client shared their vision regarding a theme based on “Lavender Garden.” Following the client’s vision, they were also not sure this was possible since it looked like a hefty task. But, nothing is impossible with us.

So, we changed their vision into a reality with a classic touch. Our professionals started planning the wedding theme comprehensively with blazing ideas and suggestions. Both Grand Sapphire and Spice Village management teams made sure to make this event a big hit as always.

Grand Sapphire and Spice Village – The Collab of Two Giants:

Grand Sapphire and Spice Village allocated their expert teams, working together to color the picture with beautiful concepts. Starting from the wedding planning with the ultimate setting, décor, and entertainment to ending it with mouthwatering cuisine is not an easy job. But that is what we are for – managing your big day celebrations in a unique and elegant style and providing such an exquisite ever-lasting experience.

All the experts pulled off the lavender show at Grand Sapphire with their creativity and novelty. The stage setting was covered with fresh lavenders that spread a sense of serenity in the hall. A big screen was placed behind the stage that displayed soothing and alluring backdrops to match the whole vibe of the theme.

Moreover, we also handcrafted unique and fantastic centerpieces that add a touch of elegance to this lavender party. They enhanced the ceremony’s beauty by adding diverse flower combinations to provide a soothing experience to guests. Amazing woodwork artists and carpenters’ put in all their sweat and blood to change the hall into heaven. Also, the score added that one missing touch.

Hand-made Center Pieces:

Everything used in the event was hand-made by different talented carpenters and technicians. However, the most crucial factor in the success of an event is the amount of dedication and hard work being put into the whole event’s management. Our professionals responsibly cater for the entire event, and no one ever leaves disappointed, whether in terms of décor or food.

Our experts selected unique flower and setting designs to embellish the entire Grand Ballroom with purple, violet, and pink. The stage was uniquely designed with themed flowers, a screen, different centerpieces, and prickets. Screen presentation was delicately handled by adjusting light and using background images of the lavender garden to match it with the theme.

Tailored Dance Floor:

Our expert team made the dance floor with attention to detail. Our teams introduced a unique flooring décor concept that was in contrast with the theme color, making it look sleek and protrude. The Grand Ballroom illuminated on the edges of the dance floor to make it look super appealing.
An exceptional dance performance from Ruby Lemon took everyone by surprise, taking the environment to another level of excitement and joy. The whole concept revolved around lavender and magical performance and perfectly painted the wedding with gorgeousness.

Food Presentation:

A wedding without food is incomplete, and the best caterers were there to make the day even more mesmerizing for the couple and guests. A unique concept was introduced at this wedding related to the theme. A variety of fruits were displayed distinctively on plates on tables. Large beautiful dishes were used to present the fruits, and different designs brought the taste to the eyes. Themed background with exquisite flowers was displayed in such a way that the whole food presentation looked like an imaginary concept.
The Grand Sapphire and Spice Village presented the food display in a dreamlike way, so no stone was left unturned. The guests were immensely impressed with the appearance and arrangement of the food. No one will ever forget the wedding due to its theme and preparations.

Indeed, there are a few South Asian meals that may well stand on their own. Such cuisines do not require playing a subservient dish or anything other than the garnishes. Biryani is one of these meals, but if we are being honest, Spice Village’s Nihari is a meal in and of itself. It leaves memories in your mouth with its intense spices, deliciously delicate meat, the sourness of the zesty lemon, and aromatic coriander.

Nihari is a delicious subcontinent stew with fall-apart tender beef, a scoop of desi ghee, and a few extra ingredients. It is one of the ultimate breakfast options in Pakistan, and Lahore is one of the greatest places to try it. However, you cannot travel to Lahore just to eat it, so we bring the same, rich-in-taste Nihari for everyone in London.

What is Nihari?

It is a mildly spiced stew made by cooking a large quantity of dried spices in vegetable oil and animal fat. It is thrilling to peep over the side and look in on the stew while stirring ingredients together in a huge pot to fill everyone’s bellies.

The sauce is rich and flowing, with ultra-tender chunks of beef floating in clarified butter and a deep crimson hue from the spicy oil.

A smaller metal pan of clarified butter, flavoured with ginger, is heated separately just before dishing. Moreover, the chef spoon on the sizzling rich butter sizzles as it hits whatever portion of meat is floating on the surface.

One of the best ways to relish Nihari, apart from the fact that it is a staunch dose of beef and butter, is the seasoning. So, use a bunch of ginger, green chilies, and a few lemon squeezes on our scrumptious Nihari to unlock the meaning of true taste.

The seasoning amps up the taste and creates a contrast that is nothing short of mind-blowing in this already fantastic dish.

What Bones You Should Try in Nihari?

Excellent bones are required for a great Nihari, which has a gorgeous rich broth. The best bones to eat for Nihari are those from the shank, anything with joints and marrow if you are into that. Slow cooking Nihari brings out more flavour because of the bones. However, the bones take a long time to give a completely rich taste.

We understand the essence of it and serve you with the best. You may choose on your own, but leave everything to our chefs and enjoy the best Nihari in Southall and Tooting.

Spice Village Brings the Best Nihari:

Nihari has a flavorful depth that is so thoughtful that one can practically taste the leisurely and deliberate thought that went into blending the ingredients. You would not believe it, but Nihari was also used to treat several illnesses, such as the cold. However, it went on to become the best breakfast across South Asia.

Spice Village understands its authentic taste and importance and brings the best Nihari in London. You would forget everything when the first bite with a tangy taste, rich aroma, and hot naan would go into your mouth. Our chefs have perfected the art of Nihari, and it is a must-try for everyone who loves desi breakfast.

Curry people know how challenging it is to find the perfect restaurant in foreign countries. You will come across many desi places, but not every restaurant is capable of pleasing your taste buds as Spice Village does.

We, like you, are a huge fan of food, and therefore, we aim at bringing the rich and delicious food of Pakistan to the Tooting. We have a very extensive and mouth-watering menu, but we are going to talk about the dishes that are hot selling.

So, let’s read about what you would want to order when you crave the real South Asian cuisine in London.

It is a moment of happiness as people gather to eat at the same time, at least this month of the year. You will get invited to many Iftar parties, and therefore, you need to keep some Iftar etiquettes in mind.

Spice Village hosts the best Iftar buffet every year in London to please your taste buds. You do not have to worry about anything but focus on the scrumptious meals. However, we will still look at the dos and don’ts of Iftar.

The Dos of Iftar:

It is important to have a balanced Iftar menu. It must have an assortment of different items, such as Biryani, Pakoras, Chana Chaat, and more. You will find it all at Spice Village in Southall and Tooting.

● Having a set of dates is a must for every Iftar meal. It is not an Iftar if you do not have these items. So, our restaurant gives out complimentary dates at every Iftar.

● You have to be mindful of the time and have everything on the table before it is time to break the fast. You do not want anything even a minute late during Iftar. If it seems too much of a hassle, you know which restaurant to go to in London.

● Hunger is something you might endure but not your thirst. Therefore, it is vital to have various beverages, like lemonade, fresh juices, and water to quench your thirst.

● You must have kid-friendly items at your Iftar buffet. You have to have nuggets, fruits, cheese balls, and more to make Iftar wholesome for children as well. Spice Village got your back with an extensive Iftar menu.

The Don’ts of Iftar:

● Avoid trying to prepare an assortment of food as people fill up too quickly, and everything goes to waste. Therefore, enjoy your Iftar at a restaurant, like SV, to respect the belly and food.

● Having too many fried items at the table will consume a lot of time, and you might not be ready by the Iftar time. So it again calls for you to save yourself from all the hassle by joining Spice Village for Iftar.

● If you host an Iftar, you can’t do it with perfection. You are also fasting, and cooking multiple dishes is a bit too much. So leave it to the experts and bring your guests over to Spice Village for the best Iftar in London.

● Chai is love! If you can ignore tea, you will be indifferent to everything in the world. We have the best tea to sip, making your post-Iftar time wholesome.

The Etiquettes Guide for Iftar:

We want everyone to have the best Iftar event ever. If you are the host, we have some tips for you. First, you must invite the guests at least two days prior to the day because it will give you enough time to pull off the best Iftar party.

It also helps you to organise everything if someone can’t make it. It is a big hassle to cook during Ramadan, especially when you are fasting yourself. Therefore, we highly recommend hosting your guests at our restaurant to make it seamless for everyone.

Eat Freely:

You do not want to feel restricted with food options at Iftar. You should be able to eat anything as much as you want. Some break the fast with water and dates, while others savour other sweet things. Our buffets are what you need to satisfy your craving soul.

Wait for the Azaan:

It is rude to break your fast when everyone is not settled down and Azaan is not called. It is a must to break your fast upon hearing the Azaan. The significance of Iftar is to gather everyone and share a message of unity and compassion.

Respect Time:

You have to be wary of the time during Ramadan, especially when it is nearing Iftar time. It is healthy to be at your table 10 to 15 minutes earlier to have an organised Iftar.

Why Spice Village is Your Go-to Option:

You can see that it is no less than a challenge to host an Iftar event. Iftar is all about sharing and caring, and even you deserve to enjoy it the way others do. That is why Spice Village brings a plethora of Iftar dishes with a congenial ambience to give you a homely feeling.

Spice Village brings its specialties in Ramadan to make your Iftar lip-smacking. Let’s see how we are different from other restaurants in London.

Reasons That Make Spice Village Unique:

Our chefs make sure not to blend only spices but the latest cooking techniques with traditional methods to give you the finest experience ever. So it is now possible to have a nostalgic feeling with our Iftar buffet at affordable prices.

Furthermore, we also take care of your health with strict rules and regulations. For example, we grill meat following a thorough marinating process and steam-cooking to give you proper taste and a healthy experience.

We invest our time preparing our Iftar meals the way they are originally cooked in South Asia. We slow cook our meals to perfection. Our meals have the right blend of spices to give you a wholesome experience. From mild to spice lovers, we cater to everyone.

Quick Meals with Optimum Freshness:

Many know that the food industry in the Asian part of the world uses premade bases for similar recipes. It might sound cost-efficient to people, but you lose all the flavour nuances. A flavourless meal is as good as going to sleep hungry. However, do not worry, as Spice Village brings solutions to all your food problems.

Unlike other restaurants, our chefs go the extra mile to serve our customers with unparalleled taste and quality. Our quality does not persist during Ramadan only, and you will find it the same on any day of the year you choose to visit us. We might take a few extra minutes when preparing specific dishes to cook them to perfection, but your time will be worth every bite.

Our Must-have Pick for Your Iftar:

You can’t define the taste of Biryani with words like mouthwatering, lip-smacking, scrumptious, and whatnot. It is the ultimate king of South Asian cuisine. So if you want a succulent meal at Iftar, try our Biryani. Its perfectly-mixed spices in every bite will make you want it more.

Our entire Iftar menu is delicious, but your South Asian food cravings stay unfulfilled without our Biryani. We can’t describe its taste, but you can taste it yourself and define your emotions in the best way possible.

Why Spice Village is Your Ultimate Choice:

We ensure to give you a complete Halal experience at an economical price. We are the master of South Asian cuisine in London. Spice Village makes every mouth water in Tooting and Southall with our scrumptious Iftar buffet. We mix all the best dishes you can wish for.

CMuslims all around the world prepare for Ramadan with the greatest passion. This blessed month brings a lot of joy and enthusiasm every year. This month is about forgiveness, endurance, care, harmony, and a lot more. But, you find all of these things at one time – Iftar. It unites everyone and makes them feast in an even manner, which sadly, many families do not get to do much in today’s time.

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. Therefore, Iftar is of utmost significance and should be observed in the right manner. You attain peace and fulfilment when Iftari is performed perfectly. However, Spice Village brings the healthiest and yummiest food in Southall and Tooting to make your Iftar a whole lot better.

What is Iftar?

An Iftar is a religious observance where people gather to break the fast. Muslims will have two meals a day in Ramadan. One takes before sunrise, which is known as Suhoor, and the one that takes place after sunset is known as Iftar.

Furthermore, Iftar signifies the conclusion of the fast. Moreover, it has a variety of delicious meals and snacks to celebrate the day-long effort and dedication. Therefore, Spice Village brings the best food to cater to people’s taste buds in London.

5 Healthy Tips for Iftar:

It is not easy to survive with thirst and hunger the entire day. As a result, people often resort to excessive eating, which can lead to potential danger. In addition, it can nullify the nutritional benefits you gain from fasting.

However, Spice Village brings a few tips to help you have a healthy Ramadan.

1. Break Your Fast Right Away:

Not many know but breaking your fast immediately is a healthy thing. It is not healthy to deprive your body of nutrients and fluids more than required. You should start with a date and some water to avoid weakness or dehydration.

Moreover, you can also consume juice or milk to rejuvenate your body from the hectic day. However, you have to ensure you are not drinking too much sugar or calories at Iftar. Spice Village has properly-made drinks to keep your body refreshed and healthy.

2. Start with a Date:

Now the whole world understands the plethora of advantages a date has for the human body. Muslims have been consuming it in Iftar for more than a millennium now. After water or any other drink, it is highly recommended to start with a few dates.

In addition, dates are an organic source of nutrients and sugar. It is enough to have three dates at every Iftar to keep your body healthy. We serve dates as a complementary item at every Iftar because it has a high significance in Islam.

3. Eat Vegetables & Carbs:

If your Iftar platter contains a good amount of carbohydrates and vegetables, then you are already having a healthy meal. Everyone knows that wheat, brown rice, and potatoes give rich and stable energy to your body during the month of Ramadan.

Moreover, vegetables also have a significant role as they are full of vitamins, fibres, and minerals with no calories. Spice Village makes your Iftar time golden by cooking meals keeping your health in mind. We are a 100% HMC-certified restaurant that brings taste without compromising your health.

4. Take Proteins:

You should not avoid taking proteins such as lean ones. Considering having lean proteins in your meal will make sure your body builds as well as rebuild your muscle mass. We serve meat, chicken, fish, and other sources of protein to make your Iftar healthy.

Moreover, you can intake proteins from lentils, peas, beans, etc. We got you covered, and observing your Iftar at Spice Village ensures nothing but satisfaction.

5. Do Not Consume High Fat & Spices:

Not only during Iftar, but it is healthy to avoid meals with high fat, sugar, and salt. Prepare your food by steaming, boiling, or baking them to have a healthier life. For taste, use herbs or natural spices. It is all about incorporating constructive change.

Our restaurant has everything for every visitor. You can find roasted, boiled, baked, and every sort of meal to cater your taste and preference. So, save yourself from all the hassle and enjoy the Iftar at Spice Village.

Coming back to where we started our journey in 2004, Spice Village is back in Tooting!
Spice Village has grown into a multi-award-winning British Pakistani chain of restaurants, as well as the UK’s top event caterer, and our exquisite desi menu is back to satisfy the cravings of many, whether you wish to try the desi cuisine or are an immigrant wishing to taste your country’s meal again. With its melting pot of various regional food traditions and cultural heritage refined in villages and culinary hotspots throughout Pakistan, Spice Village’s menu exemplifies Pakistani culinary growth. Our award-winning chefs prepare Pakistani comfort food to perfection, bringing you the best experience of food prepared using conventional methods. The smell of spice and smoke will surely make your mouth water!

In 2004, in Tooting, my brother and I launched a 15-seater takeaway with a distinct British Pakistani flavour. After that first step, my journey has met myriad success, and now Spice Village restaurants can be found in a variety of food hotspots throughout London, including Southall and Southend, which attract visitors from all over the world. Due to the pandemic, the entire restaurant industry is now surviving on takeaways & deliveries, and sometimes we experienced complete lockdown, which resulted in a ban on dine-in. I innovated the UK’s first-ever drive-thru dine-in car experience, which has been highly successful, and it paved a path for people to enjoy their meal safely even in the Covid pandemic. We created a tray specifically for car dining, meant to give customers the experience of dining in a restaurant from the comfort of their vehicle. It not only adds a restaurant-like feel to the dining experience, but it also makes car dining more convenient for customers.

The world-famous Evening Standard ranked Spice Village among the 20 best restaurants in London!

I am incredibly pleased to be back in Tooting, where it all started. I extend my appreciation to all of you and the people of Tooting for giving a positive response and for loving Spice Village. I would not have reached here, at this point of success, without your support. However, this is still not the end of my journey nor the final destination of Spice village as Spice Village is preparing to extend its international network of franchised restaurants in the United Kingdom as well as other European nations.

People of Tooting have missed us, and we noticed. We answered your requests and will soon answer your cravings too, as we will be serving in Tooting, once again, to provide you with the best Pakistani cultural food experience and heritage. Look forward to it!

Since 2015, Spice Village Uplyft runs #NoOneEatsAlone Campaign around #Christmas to feed free of cost hot meals to the homeless and the most vulnerable members of our communities as well as children from low-income families at our restaurants.

The Campaign is designed to provide free of cost healthy & nutritious meals for all those without a roof over their head this Christmas. Every year, thousands of people are sleeping rough on the roads around the country. They rely heavily on our support and various charities with the likes of Crisis, Shelter, Salvation Army, Nightwatch, and many others, to provide them with food, shelter, and other support and advice.

Despite living in the world’s sixth biggest economy, people are still living with no place to call their home in this country. The research found just under nine in ten people agreed homelessness is a serious problem in the UK, and almost three quarters said they believe it does not get the attention it deserves. Therefore, all of this work is vital. All the supporters of the NoOneEatAlone Campaign would be the first to recognise the long-term impact of charities and social enterprises for the vulnerable and homeless people.

It’s been a really hard year for everyone, the pandemic has spared No one. Thousands of people have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the most harder hit sector has been the disadvantaged communities, vulnerable people, and people without a roof over their heads, who have suffered even more.

This year, on the Christmas day, NoOneEatsAlone Campaign has met an unprecedented level of support with hundreds of heartwarming messages on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. Local and national media spread the word, residents donated gifts, blankets, jackets and left cards and even volunteered time. Our Restaurants were swamped by calls, emails and visits from the local community. NoOneEatsAlone Campaign has been featured on the BBC, MyLondon News, and has now become our annual event. Our Campaign has gained a massive response, and hundreds of homeless were served Christmas Dinner along with gifts at Spice Village in Croydon, Tooting and Southall on this Christmas and in the previous years. But now, we aim to continue supporting and serving the local communities around our restaurants not just around the Christmas but throughout the year.

I am also leading a food industry-led initiative to end homelessness in the United Kingdom by making the best possible use of the excess food from the restaurants, caterers and food industry. The real ambition behind this initiative is to eliminate rough sleeping and homelessness and enable these homeless people to become significant contributors into society.

I am extremely grateful for the incredible support from Virendra Sharma local MP from Southall , Mayor of Ealing , Mayor of Croydon, members of civil society , local businesses, friends & families for spreading the word.
Also this year, I am urging other #Restaurants and food industry to support our Campaign and help us spread the cheer on Christmas in these tough days to feed rough sleepers and other vulnerable people in London, there is lot more needs to be done, hopefully in the coming years we will see many other food businesses participate in feeding the homeless and the most needy out there, as together we can all make the difference.

We cannot eliminate the homelessness from the UK by just doing this essential work around Christmas alone. But, I hope that it can be an opportunity for everyone to participate and support our work to feed anyone who is hungry, homeless or lonely not just on Christmas but throughout the year.

From its very beginning, Spice Village has been generously Contributing towards several UK & international charities in Southeast Asia, including Prince of Wales’s The British Asian Trust and Homeless and underprivileged people, and has always been supporting local communities and other humanitarian causes.
We are relocating our Tooting branch and will be opening its doors in a rather different era. Now, more than 21 months into the pandemic, we are planning on ensuring that similar initiatives will still be around when our daily lives have regained a greater sense of normality.
If you have any queries, or if you wish to join hands towards the act of kindness, please contact us via email at info@spicevillage.co.uk.

The Armed Forces Covenant
An Enduring Covenant Between
The People of the United Kingdom
Her Majesty’s Government
– and –
All those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown
And their Families

The first duty of Government is the defence of the realm. Our Armed Forces fulfil that responsibility on behalf of the Government, sacrificing some civilian freedoms, facing danger and, sometimes, suffering serious injury or death as a result of their duty.Families also play a vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of our Armed Forces. In return, the whole nation has a moral obligation to the members of the Naval Service, the Army and the Royal Air Force, together with their families. They deserve our respect and support, and fair treatment.

Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.

This obligation involves the whole of society: it includes voluntary and charitable bodies, private organisations, and the actions of individuals in supporting the Armed Forces. Recognising those who have performed military duty unites the country and demonstrates the value of their contribution. This has no greater expression than in upholding this Covenant.

Section 1: Principles of The Armed Forces; Covenant

1.1 We the Spice Village Group will endeavour in our business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which are:

⦁ No member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen.
⦁ In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

Section 2· Demonstrating our Commitment

2.1 Spice Village Group recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

⦁ Promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation.
⦁ Seeking to support the employment of veterans young and old and working with the career transition partnership (CTP), in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for service leavers.
⦁ Striving to support the employment of service spouses and partners.
⦁ Endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment,
⦁ Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible.
⦁ Offering support to our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, where possible.
⦁ Aiming to actively participate in Armed Forces Day.
⦁ Offering 10% discount to members of the Armed forces community
⦁ Offering recruitment fairs for the Armed forces to ensure our support to send the best to serve the country
⦁ Offering to encourage the local youth to work and volunteer with the Armed forces

2.2 We will publicise these commitments through our literature and/or on our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the service community and our customers on how we are doing.

COVID -19 is disrupting lives, habits and patterns, urging us all to think out of the box to deal with the prevailing uncertainty. Some food businesses have been struggling to survive. In contrast, Spice Village in Croydon has found a unique way to survive through the pandemic. It has introduced a first-ever Drive-thru car-in service in the UK, within our large and accessible car park to continue receiving customers since the restriction on dine-in restaurants from December 2020 in an attempt to cease the outbreak of the Covid-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic fast-tracked the food transformation. The closing of borders, shortage of truck drivers and migrant workers, and lockdown of out-of-home channels pose immediate challenges to the food industry. Food retailers and the entire industry are now operating very differently than they did some 12 months ago. The pandemic has brought immense shifts in supply chains, imposed new hazard controls, and—perhaps most importantly—turned consumer preferences upside down. To accommodate these changes, food manufacturers, retailers, restaurants and others stepped up to innovate and secure the continuity of their services. But now, as many industries begin to drop the notion of ever going back to what once was, it’s time we started thinking about how many of the newly introduced processes will stick around for the long-term.

Spice Village has always been at the forefront of the UK,s food industry. Tripadvisor has recently rated spice village as the No-1 Pakistani restaurant in London. Well, it’s been a challenging year; we lost 80% of the revenue, the majority of the staff furloughed due to restrictions on #DineIn services since 2021 dawned. The restriction on offering dine in services to our customers had a detrimental effect on our business. So far, we have been surviving on takeaways and delivery service in the local areas, but as we have a huge car park facility on-site, we have been thinking about how we can make the best possible use. Whilst we have already seen businesses adopting innovative ways to survive through the pandemic, such as the drive-in cinemas, Where the individuals can watch movies sitting in their vehicles, as an alternative of going into a crowded theatre.

Here, we have developed another unique and exceptional idea by innovating a perfect solution for all those diners looking to enjoy their lunch or dinners Covid-safe on their own in their cars. We’ve been working on this idea for several months as we wanted to offer a Covid safe Drive-Thru Eat-in Car experience to our customers, We have introduced a unique tray-style service and it took several attempts to get the right design of the tray which can fit into the windows of any car, whether it is small or big. Customers will drive into our car park and order their meals through our contactless menus while sitting in their vehicles; customers have to keep their front car windows open for the Waiters to slide these trays into their vehicles before serving their meals. The Waiters will be offering personalised service by serving meals and mocktails drinks exclusively to the customers sitting in their cars, offering a unique experience to diners who have not been able to enjoy dine-in services at restaurants due to the continued lockdown. We have also set up background music in our car park for customers to enjoy while having their meals. It is our effort to survive the ongoing uncertainty while ensuring the best of hygiene.

Due to the lockdown, restaurants are restricted from offering dine -in services and customers who have not been able to go out to the restaurants can now visit Spice Village Croydon and not just enjoy our delicious food but have a unique hassle-free experience of enjoying their meals inside their cars. Some of the dishes we recommend are mix Grills, masala fish, papdi Chat, Panipuri, a small puffed bread filled with a delicious mix of spices, potato, onion and chickpeas ; also, we have introduced special kids menu so the families can come out and enjoy this unique first ever Drive-Thru Eat-in Car Experience in the UK.

We will encourage everyone to come and experience this pop-up Drive-Thru Eat-In-Car🚗service 🍽 at our #Croydon Branch who have been missing our freshly prepared healthy grilled food due to restriction on dine-in services with five-star hygiene and full-spectrum control.

While the corona virus is affecting the whole world, so far over 1 million people have been affected worldwide. Corona Virus has brought the worst impact on the food industry for as long as the history goes. Majority of the food outlets in the UK were forced to be closed down, some of the major brands such as McDonalds, KFC , Pret a manger, costa coffee, Pizza express, Nando’s and many more had to shut down in the best interest of their customers and for the well-being of their employees . However being a restaurateur myself I strongly believe and appreciate that this decision has been mainly taken by majority of leading food brands in order to protect and ensure the health and safety of their staff which was the probably the best decision and the driving factor behind this critical decision and once the corona virus Crisis will be over , these staff will be required again so it was very important as majority of the staff working at these leading food chains were using public transport to get to their work which was exposing them not only towards the great risk of getting affected from coronavirus during travelling to their work but to the customers as well who were still keen to eat at these outlets.

While the leading food brands can afford to stay close during this pandemic , Asian food industry has been badly disrupted and in some way have been left stranded , Britain has been in love with curry since at least the 1940s and over that time an estimated 12,000 curry houses have mushroomed across the country, even in the smallest villages across the UK , as these Asian food businesses especially restaurant and takeaway industry are mostly privately or family owned and not backed by large corporate groups, The chains of curry restaurants that are out there are family-oriented, family-built so they have to go over this difficult period of time on their own, so while our government, s focus and priority at this stage is towards somehow coming out of this corona virus pandemic , we must not forget that the impact it will bring on the food industry could be crippling for the British economy and the fear to gain the lost confidence of the consumer on the restaurants and takeaways can make thousands of employees of the Asian food industry redundant and when things will be back to normal the Asian food industry could be in even worse situation because of losing their key skilled staff to corona virus epidemic as the Asian food industry was already struggling due to shortage of skilled workers prior to this epidemic and now the corona virus has further dented the Asian restaurants and takeaways. In a statement to national newspaper. The JD Weatherspoon Boss Tim Martin has said that closing pubs, bars and restaurants will not help stop coronavirus. He said: “My instinct is that closure won’t save lives but will cost thousands of jobs and create unsustainable costs for the UK.”

Asian restaurants, catering and takeaway industry has a lot to lose during this pandemic. Curry industry currently employs over 100,000 people and an estimated contribution of £ 4 billion towards the British economy according to the data compiled last year by Lord Karan Bilimoria, the chairman of Cobra Beer and a member of Parliament’s curry committee, which advises on the government policy.

The Coronavirus crisis seems very serious with long term repercussions on the curry industry, so many restaurants were already closing down and many were struggling to survive due to the lack of skilled workers and in some way the UberEATS , Deliveroo and these new apps have also contributed towards disrupting the curry trade, a lot of existing restaurant and takeaway staff in London have joined Uber eats and Deliveroo . including chefs, tandoori chefs, waiters, managers as a lot of these skilled staff been attracted towards value of the freedom of their life rather than sweating themselves in the hot kitchens. and now due to this corona factor the industry will lose further as majority of the superstore chains such as Tesco, Lidl , Sainsbury’s and Asda have already started recruiting all over UK which is good for these employees in the current situation, and I have no doubt that some of the Asian food industry key staff will join them and one must not blame them as they may not have choice due to the fear of long term financial instability but in the long run the affect it may bring on the curry industry might be irrecoverable.

While I appreciate that the government has offered various incentives including business interruption loan scheme and employees retention scheme , but I still believe its not enough and there is lot more which needs to be done to protect the industry, so I would urge the government to take more serious interest towards the Curry industry during the coronavirus crisis to save the future of the Asian restaurants, catering and takeaway industry.

Suleman Raza being awarded Curry King of the year 2019 at the Asian food and restaurant awards held at the Hilton terminal 5 London . Suleman raza who started his career as a chef in early 2000,s has been recognised for his tireless work in the food industry for nearly two decades and has shown a huge resolve efforts to claim the recognition for the British Pakistani cuisine in the UK which was previously confused with its well-known South Asian neighbour, India.

At the turn of the millennium, the United Kingdom attracted a host of dreamers who, following their passion, wanted to make it to the big league. Suleman Raza, a tall and lean Pakistani origin young man in his early 20s was one of them. Those days. he was sweating as a chef in a Brixton based restaurant with an aspiration to start his own restaurant. He always felt things could be done differently for more delectable outcomes. The he was a chef yearning to open his own restaurant with signature dishes – Every chef dreams it. But what’s it like to actually do it? For some, it’s everything they hoped, an enterprise that feeds their spirit and fills their wallet. For others, the reality can be a nightmare—a blur of complaining customers, unexpected scoot work and mounting expenses. However, as they say, the dreams seen by the open eyes are dangerous as they get materialised. The young Suleman Raza found himself captivated with London’s eclectic restaurant scene and longed to bring some of that foodie culture back to South of London.

Suleman thought that the thickly populated Tooting would be ready for finer fare—if it were presented right. “I wanted the ‘wow’ effect, a place where people could be very pleasantly surprised, but still be comfortable while eating the healthiest food prepared from the freshest ingredients.” His dream restaurant would be for “people who might drive long distances to find an authentic restaurant with great food, where they could take their time with friends and families without feeling rushed. Slow, enjoyable food. Nothing to be rushed.”
While sweating himself in kitchen, Suleman immersed himself in almost daily restaurant planning. He began collecting travel-magazine photos of restaurants, along with reviews and other articles about their food presentations. “I started spending most of my time away from cooking thinking about the components of food, blends of spices, service and ambiance,” he recollected.

Debt and all, Spice Village restaurant opened in 2004. The aroma of chicken tikka, seek kebabs, chomps and variety of curries filled the air due to the irresistible combination of spices. Suleman quickly discovered that the reality of running a gourmet restaurant is a lot grubbier than he had imagined. There was a ton of work to be done behind the scenes and not enough people to do it. But that wasn’t a problem. He rolled up his sleeves and tackled a lot of the chores himself along with his brothers. “I don’t mind the grunt work,” Suleman reminisced. “It’s a good feeling to do the little things that make it all come together. It became even easier due to the unflinching support of the family.”
His workdays usually started at 9 a.m., going over the itinerary of the day with dozens of items to source, and ended at 3 a.m. after clean-up. Suleman regularly mopped and swept the restaurant himself .
That’s not to mention hauling delivery boxes to the recycling centre, doing the restaurant’s laundry and serving as general handyman. When a leaky toilet in the men’s room puzzled the plumber, he bought parts and fixed it himself.
‘’It’s not glamorous’’, he readily concedes, “but I have always been a frugal person. Besides, not making it wasn’t an option.”

Suleman’s hard work has been rewarded. Customers have poured in, some of them from all over the country from miles away. The word of mouth spread like wild fire. Soon there was a queue outside the restaurant and people were jostling to get inside. The waiting time got longer. The happy customers started talking about the yummy spicy fish, the incredible curries, the delicious tikkas and mouth-watering kebabs. The customers were not only Pakistanis and Indians but the mainstream British and Europeans who relished spices at their best. It was a great value for money so takeaway orders multiplied. Soon Suleman felt they had to acquire the next shop and then the next shop on the high street to overcome the immense demand.

Spice Village spread to the East of London and West of London too. From Tooting it reached Ilford and then Southall. The customers flocked wherever the brand reached. People came as tasters and then became avid fans. The taste, service, ambience couple with great value for money multiplied the number of diners. And the whole expansion was secured without allowing booze. ‘I always thought it would be more challenging to bring people in without alcohol. However, I believed if we would be good enough, we could do that. I don’t believe in alcohol and do believe in getting customers intoxicated with the power of spices – a much healthier option’.

Today, Spice Village with a host of services in catering, restaurants and events serves more than half a million customers all across London and the United Kingdom. It is not the numbers only as the quality of customers also picked up. Spice village customers range from the British House of Commons and House of Lords to Lambeth Palace, the Riyal Military Academy at Sandhurst, several embassies and London’s best starred hotels and iconic venues. London’s favourite mayor Sadiq Khan ranks Spice Village among his favourites. Every now and then some movie star walks in and some celebrity sneaks out. Social media and advisory websites are abuzz with the amazing feedback. Awards are piling up every year from almost every known entity that deals with food and lifestyle.

BRITISH CURRY AWARDS 2018 – FINALISTS

UK’s Finest Restaurants honoured at Pioneering and Foremost Celebration of the UK Hospitality Industry, 14th, annual British Curry Awards in association with Just Eat.

The UK’s leading curry restaurateurs once again descended on the Capital to attend the jewel in the crown of the UK hospitality sector’s annual honours at the 14th British Curry Awards in association with Just Eat on Monday 26th November at Battersea Evolution. The pioneering and foremost celebration of the nation’s favourite cuisine once again paid homage to the industry’s finest establishments, while the industry continues to face uncertainty about its future. Hosted by comedian and impersonator Jon Clegg, British Curry Awards, or the ‘Curry Oscars’ as fondly coined by David Cameron, welcomed a guest list of personalities from the worlds of politics, sport, television, showbiz and entertainment, as well as leading celebrity chefs, restaurant owners and their staff from across the country. In attendance were: comedian, actor, author and activist Russell Brand; MP’s Sir Nigel Farage Brandon Lewis and Baroness Verma; footballer David Seaman MBE and Frankie Poultney; comedian Hardeep Kohli; The Apprentice contestants Jasmine Kundra, Daniel Elahi and Kurran Pooni; TV personalities Kirsten O’Brien, Nina Myskow and Pat Sharp; singer Patti Boulaye; models India Harl and Ramzan Miah; and DJ Neev Spencer among others. As the foremost and pioneering celebration of the UK curry industry’s achievements, British Curry Awards has become a national institution in its own right and a key fixture on the hospitality industry’s calendar. A rigorous selection process to honour the nation’s top curry houses was led by the UK public, with the dedicated frequenters of curry houses on the streets of Britain invited to nominate their favourite Asian restaurants and takeaways. The process of public nominations created an authentic list of the nation’s most cherished Asian eateries, based on the opinions of local residents, with award winners announced on the night from category shortlists across each UK region.

As well as recognising industry talent and quality, the British Curry Awards highlighted the continued challenges faced by the curry business. The Asian catering industry is valued at approximately £5 billion. Even so, over the years the industry has witnessed a steep downturn. This decline is largely attributed to the shortage of skilled workers in the hospitality sector, from a lack of talented chefs all the way through to front of house staff. This is due to the UK’s stringent immigration policy relating to skilled workers from outside the EU, coupled with a palpable sense of disinterest among younger people or job seekers with regard to the hospitality sector. The UK curry industry has been in crisis for years, with an average of one restaurant now closing down per day and a shortfall of approximately 30,000 skilled workers required to fill the immediate staffing gap. The situation has now made worse by the unknown implications that Brexit will have on access to skilled workers from outside the EU. One impact of Brexit has already been witnessed by way of rising costs of food produce and supplies due to the weakening pound. The industry is suffering the impact of a Brexit betrayal by pro Leave politicians, who promised restaurants higher inflows from South Asia with easier visa rules, allowing lower salary-thresholds to hire overseas staff and regularising undocumented workers. Instead, the immigration of skilled workers from outside the EU has become tighter, business has suffered and the workers from eastern Europe that the industry has come to rely on are leaving. Furthermore, current rules mandate paying salaries of £35,000 to offer a curry chef’s job to a skilled worker from South Asia, an amount out of reach for most of smaller restaurants, compared to a royal chef position that offers a salary of just over £21,000.

Little clients with big ideas, innovation packed fun

Kids are full of ideas and they are renewed every time they see something happening in the surrounding or a new cartoon character inspires their thoughts. Making a birthday memorable for the children is a big challenge, as the little masters want everything to happen at the same time and nothing should be left from the list they provided. They are very strict in terms of accomplishing their desired criteria and if not, get ready for an answering questioning session for the whole night accompanied by a crying sleepless night. For avoiding all this and spare yourself of the agony, hiring a dedicated Indian catering service is a must.

Give the Best to the Client

Catering Services

Best is the criterion these little masters ask for and there is no room for mistakes from the elders. It is the work for a skilled caterer to make the party a fun and entertainment treat. Kids can also get inspired from the other birthday parties they attend and ask for the same theme. But a caterer thinks otherwise. Repetition of the same decoration and atmosphere can cause boredom, giving a new style to the same theme can make a very pleasant change for the birthday boy or girl. Kids usually love surprises and giving them one means a lot of praise which ultimately gives plus point for the service provider and make way for the popularity of the company.

Food Corners

Food is a must to make children busy and refresh them when they get tired and want less activity. Tasty yummy foods at the table make them have more fun and energize them. For this the caterer can merge the choice of the customer with his own menu and give a superb choice for the menu. The menu should be decided before hand with the client to avoid any unpleasant incident on the spot. The decoration of the birthday cake table should depict the theme decided by the parents or the kid. It can be in the center or against a wall. The one with a wall in the background can give many opportunities to the decoration staff for beautifying the corner. The food that can be easily handled by the kids without the help of the parents is the right choice for the occasion. It will be less messy and the kids will enjoy more when they don’t have the fear of getting scolded for spilling the food. Keep in mind the favorite foods of kids and then finalize the menu to present to the client. Also one very important question should be asked from the parents is the presence of any allergies in the birthday boy or girl to prevent any future mishap. Junk food should also be kept away from the menu and health of the children should be the priority for providing the catering services for a birthday party.

Catering Services

Instead of using heavy plastic or glass cutlery for a birthday party utilizing disposable glasses, plates, spoons or forks is a good idea. They are at one hand easy for handling by the kids and spare the catering service providers from washing and cleaning the dishes. Also mishandling problem on part of children becomes out of question.
